## Introduction

OnlyFans content is made for fans who pay for it. When copies turn up on other sites, fans who find them there have less reason to subscribe. This guide explains what OnlyFans itself says it does about piracy, where its help stops, and what you can do about copies. When a leak has just happened, our step-by-step guide to [OnlyFans leak removal](/blog/how-to-remove-leaked-onlyfans-content-fast-before-it-costs-you-subscribers) covers the first steps.

## OnlyFans in Brief

OnlyFans is operated by Fenix International Limited, a company registered in England and Wales ([OnlyFans Terms of Service](https://onlyfans.com/terms)). Creators set a subscription price for their page and can sell extra content. Under its terms, OnlyFans' fee is 20% of each fan payment, so the creator keeps 80% before any tax or payment-provider costs.

OnlyFans does not have a dedicated iPhone, Android or desktop app; it works in a web browser ([OnlyFans blog](https://blog.onlyfans.com/onlyfans-app/)).

Creators must verify their identity with OnlyFans: the [terms](https://onlyfans.com/terms) ask for a valid ID and two photos, and further verification when OnlyFans asks for it.

## What OnlyFans Says It Does About Piracy

OnlyFans describes its copyright help on its page [Helping Creators Protect their Copyright](https://onlyfans.com/transparency-center/helping). According to that page:

- **Your content stays yours.** Fans pay to view content, but "all content belongs to the Creator". OnlyFans does not allow content to be downloaded, and copying content from OnlyFans is a breach of its Terms of Service.
- **A free watermark.** OnlyFans offers every creator a free digital watermark, a light text placed on top of the content, which you can set in your "Privacy and Safety" settings.
- **DRM.** Creators are also offered Digital Rights Management (DRM) protections, which can be enabled in the same "Privacy and Safety" settings. Check whether it is switched on for your account.
- **Free DMCA notices.** OnlyFans has a dedicated team that issues DMCA takedown notices on behalf of creators, free of charge. You report a leak through its [contact form](https://onlyfans.com/contact) by selecting "Reporting Stolen Content".
- **Search engines and scans.** OnlyFans says it notifies the major search engines of these infringements, and that it proactively scans the internet on a regular basis for websites and hosting services that host large amounts of content stolen from its creators.

For content that someone posted on onlyfans.com itself, OnlyFans' [DMCA policy](https://onlyfans.com/DMCA) takes notices by email to its designated agent. The contact form is the route for leaks on other sites. Our guide on [OnlyFans' DRM and watermark settings](/blog/how-does-onlyfans-prevent-screen-recording-complete-guide) explains what those two settings do.

## Where OnlyFans' Help Stops

OnlyFans says so itself: some companies comply with DMCA notices, while others ignore takedown requests and continue to host stolen content, and creators should also reach out to the websites directly. Its scans look for sites that host large amounts of stolen content; it does not say it finds every copy of your content. OnlyFans also publishes no response time for its takedown team. In practice you may still need to find and report copies yourself.

![Five steps to report a copy of OnlyFans content: save the link and the date without downloading or screenshotting; report it to OnlyFans through the contact form option Reporting Stolen Content, whose team sends notices for free; send a notice to the site's copyright form or DMCA agent; ask Google and Bing to drop the search result; follow up and escalate to the host, registrar, Cloudflare or a payment processor.](/images/blog/blog-onlyfans-piracy-protection.webp)

## How Copies Usually Spread

Creators commonly report the same patterns:

- **Subscriber copies.** A paying fan saves or records content and shares it elsewhere. Creators often only find out weeks later, through a fan or a search for their name.
- **Other websites.** Copies are re-posted on sites that host leaked content.
- **Fake accounts.** Someone opens an account with a creator's photos and charges fans for it.
- **Messaging groups.** Content is shared in Telegram or Discord groups, which can be hard to see into from outside.

Once a copy is on one site, it can spread to others, and copies are often re-uploaded after a removal. That is why it helps to act early and to check again later.

## How to Report a Leak Yourself

1. **Save the link and the date.** Keep the exact URL of each copy and the date you found it. Do not download the copy or take screenshots of the page; the notice needs the location, not the content.
2. **Ask OnlyFans to help.** Use the [contact form](https://onlyfans.com/contact) and select "Reporting Stolen Content", with the links you saved.
3. **Report to the site directly.** Find the site's copyright form or the DMCA agent it lists; the US Copyright Office keeps a [directory of designated agents](https://www.copyright.gov/dmca-directory/). A notice includes a signature, identification of your work, the exact URL of each copy, your contact details, a good-faith statement, and a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are authorized to act for the owner ([17 U.S.C. 512(c)(3)](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/17/512)). Our page on [how a DMCA notice works](/services/dmca-takedowns-adult-content) explains each element.
4. **Ask search engines to drop the result.** Google and Bing take copyright removal requests through their own forms. Google says its average processing time for Search removal requests sent through its web form is approximately 6 hours ([Google Transparency Report help](https://support.google.com/transparencyreport/answer/7347743)). The page stays on its site until that site removes it. Our page on [search engine de-indexing](/services/search-engine-deindexing) explains this route.
5. **Follow up.** Note the date of each notice and check whether the copy is gone. If a site does not respond, the next step is the companies it depends on: its hosting provider, domain registrar, Cloudflare (which [forwards abuse reports](https://www.cloudflare.com/trust-hub/reporting-abuse/) to the host and site owner) or a payment processor. For copies in Telegram, Telegram takes copyright complaints at the address in its [FAQ](https://telegram.org/faq).

Copyright gives you the right to send these notices for work you own; you do not need a lawyer to send one. If the uploader files a counter-notice, the platform may restore the content after 10 to 14 business days unless it is told within that period that the copyright owner has filed a court action. For a US work, registration (or a refused application) is generally required before the owner can sue ([17 U.S.C. 411(a)](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/17/411)). A lawyer can advise you on what to do then. Adult Model Protection is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.

## Fake Accounts

If someone uses your photos for a fake account, save the link to the account and the date, report it to the site through its own reporting route, and tell your fans which page is really yours. For a fake account on OnlyFans, a copyright notice for the photos it uses goes to OnlyFans' DMCA agent. Adult Model Protection files impersonation reports for you on the Luxe and higher plans.

For intimate images shared without your consent, the free [StopNCII](https://stopncii.org/) tool makes a hash of the image on your own device so that participating platforms can block matching copies; the image itself is not uploaded. For AI-made images of you (deepfakes), our [deepfake removal](/services/deepfake-removal) service is on the Glamour and higher plans.

## Ways to Make Copies Easier to Deal With

- **Turn on the watermark and DRM.** Both are free in OnlyFans' "Privacy and Safety" settings. Neither stops every copy, but a watermark with your stage name makes copies easier to find with a text search and links them to you.
- **Keep records.** Note when you published what. It makes it easier to identify your work in a notice.
- **Search for your stage name.** Search for it in Google and Bing from time to time, and set a Google Alert for it, so you hear when it appears on a new page.
- **Act early.** The sooner a copy is reported, the less time it has to be copied further.

If you decide to leave the platform, read [how to delete an OnlyFans account](/blog/how-to-delete-your-onlyfans-account-in-2026-complete-guide) first: deletion closes your page, but it does not remove copies that were already taken.

## Filing Yourself or With AMP

You can do everything in this guide yourself, for free, and OnlyFans' own team will send notices for you. What Adult Model Protection adds: on paid plans, regular scans by our team of Google, Bing, Yandex and more than 500 known leak and piracy sites, reverse image searches with the content assets you upload, and manual searches, including private groups. Every copy we find gets a notice (up to 100 platform notices a month on the Essentials plan, unlimited on Luxe and higher), filed under our name as your authorized agent, and a person on our takedown team checks each notice before it is sent. The rights holder named on the notice is your model (stage) name, and a platform may show it to the uploader. After each notice we check whether the page is gone and escalate to hosts, registrars, ISPs, Cloudflare, payment processors or the Telegram and Discord abuse teams when a site ignores us; copies found again in later scans get a new notice. Our estimate for a removal is 24 to 72 hours, an estimate and not a guarantee. You get a notification when a scan finds a new copy, and the dashboard shows each request and its status.

Takedowns to leak sites and search-engine de-indexing start on the Essentials plan; impersonation reports and removals on social media and messengers are on the Luxe and higher plans. The Free plan includes a quarterly web scan, so you can see where copies of your content appear. Our [OnlyFans leak removal](/services/remove-onlyfans-leaked-content) page explains the service in detail.
