## Telegram and Creator Content

Creators commonly report copies of their content in Telegram channels, groups and bots. Telegram is one place where copies show up, next to file hosts, leak sites and social media. This post explains the patterns creators report, how Telegram takes copyright complaints, and what you can do, alone or with Adult Model Protection (AMP). If you want our team to handle the complaints, see our [Telegram content removal service](/services/telegram-content-removal).

Telegram is not a US company. Its [privacy policy](https://telegram.org/privacy) names its parent company in the British Virgin Islands and a group company in Dubai. Channels are easy to create, and the owner of a channel is often anonymous. AMP does not identify who runs a channel or who leaked the content.

## Patterns Creators Commonly Report

These are patterns creators commonly report, not data from AMP's own cases:

- **Channels that copy a creator's name and photos**, then sell access to the creator's content
- **Paid groups** that charge a fee for a library of copied content, competing with the creator's own subscription page
- **Bots that repost content**, or send it on request
- **New channels that replace removed ones**, under a new name
- **Copies taken from public posts and from paid pages**, and links from channels to copies on file hosts and leak sites

A copy can be shared to many people quickly, and forwarded copies can be hard to trace back. That is why one complaint is rarely the end of a Telegram case.

## Why Telegram Is Harder to Search

Reverse image search mostly covers web pages; little of what sits inside Telegram is indexed. Public channels can be found and read; private channels need an invitation. Telegram's [secret chats](https://telegram.org/faq) are end-to-end encrypted, but they are one-on-one chats, not channels or groups.

Creators commonly report finding copies through fans or by searching by hand. Some fans will tell you when they see your content in a channel, so let your subscribers know they can send you a link.

## How Telegram Takes Copyright Complaints

Telegram does accept copyright complaints. Its [FAQ](https://telegram.org/faq) tells users who find content that infringes their copyright to send a complaint to [dmca@telegram.org](mailto:dmca@telegram.org). Telegram publishes no response time, and results vary.

A copyright notice names the work, gives the location of each copy (the channel, group, bot or message link), includes your contact details, a good faith statement, a statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that the sender is authorized to act for the owner, and a signature ([US Copyright Office](https://www.copyright.gov/512/)). Read more about [how a DMCA notice works](/services/dmca-takedowns-adult-content).

You can email Telegram's copyright address yourself, for free. There is no need to join or post in a channel that shares your content to do it.

Telegram's FAQ also has a separate route for a non-consensual intimate image or video of yourself. For paid content you made and sell yourself, the problem is usually that it was copied without permission, so a copyright complaint is the route that fits.

## What to Keep When You Find a Copy

Save the channel link, the message links and the date you found each copy. Do not screenshot, download or forward the content itself; the links and dates are what a complaint needs.

![Five steps of a Telegram copyright complaint: save the channel and message links and dates, email the complaint to dmca@telegram.org, AMP files it as your agent after a person checks it on Luxe and higher plans, a removal check with follow-up to Telegram's abuse team, then a new complaint for each new channel.](/images/blog/blog-telegram-piracy-how-content-thieves-use-this-platform.webp)

*How a Telegram copyright complaint works, alone or with AMP.*

Copyright notices cover copied content. A channel that impersonates you is reported separately, as impersonation. A lawyer can advise you on other options, such as trademark. Adult Model Protection is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.

## What AMP Does for Telegram Cases

- **Finding copies**: our team searches public Telegram channels by hand, by your creator names and username variants. Private groups are covered by our team as well, but what can be found there is limited, so send us any link you come across. You can submit links yourself from your dashboard.
- **Filing and follow-up**: a person checks every complaint before it goes to [dmca@telegram.org](mailto:dmca@telegram.org) under AMP's name as your agent, with your model (stage) name as the rights holder; we check removal and follow up with Telegram's abuse team. Details are on our [Telegram content removal service](/services/telegram-content-removal) page.
- **New channels**: on paid plans (Telegram cases need Luxe and higher), our regular scans and manual searches look for your content again, and each new channel or bot that turns up gets a new complaint. You get a notification when a scan finds a new copy.
- **Other reports**: impersonation reports and intimate-image reports, filed as your authorized representative.

Telegram removals are part of our social media and messenger removals, included on the Luxe and higher plans, as are impersonation and intimate-image reports. See [pricing](/pricing).

## Copies Outside Telegram

Removing a channel does not remove the copies it links to on other sites. Our team scans Google, Bing and Yandex and 500+ known leak and piracy sites, uses reverse image search with the content assets you upload, and also searches by hand. Copies found there get their own notices, to the site or its host. When a site ignores a notice, we can escalate to its hosting provider, domain registrar, internet service provider, Cloudflare or a payment processor. [Visa](https://www.visa.com/en-us/legal/report-brand-abuse), for example, lets an intellectual property owner whose earlier enforcement against a merchant was unsuccessful submit a complaint.

For servers on Discord, see [Discord DMCA takedowns](/services/discord-dmca). To catch leaks early on other sites, see [how to detect content leaks](/blog/how-to-detect-content-leaks-before-they-go-viral).

## Prevention

No method stops every leak. Watermarks can make a copy less appealing and help show where it came from; AMP does not offer watermarking yet. Content fingerprinting is also in development at AMP; today we use reverse image searches and manual searches. Talking to your subscribers about what leaks cost you can encourage them to report copies, which supports your wider [revenue protection](/blog/maximizing-revenue-through-content-protection) plan.
