# Twitter (X) DMCA Takedown Service

On X (formerly Twitter), a post with your stolen photos or clips can be reposted and quoted by many accounts. X reviews a copyright notice and can remove or withhold the content, and our team files those notices for you.

Reviewed and approved by Chris, founder of Adult Model Protection. Last reviewed 31 October 2026. Legal review by Prem, a lawyer specialising in copyright law.

Luxe+Plan that includes X takedowns

24-72hOur estimate for X, not a guarantee

500+Known leak and piracy sites in our scans

X handles copyright complaints through its own [DMCA forms](https://help.x.com/en/forms/ipi/dmca). A copyright owner, or someone authorized to act for them, reports the posts there. Our Twitter X DMCA service finds the posts, prepares complete notices and files them as your authorized agent.

Fake accounts that use your photos and name are a separate problem with a separate route: X's impersonation report. We cover both, for [leaked OnlyFans content](https://adultmodelprotection.com/services/remove-onlyfans-leaked-content) as well as for [impersonation accounts](https://adultmodelprotection.com/services/catfishing-impersonation-removal).

X takedowns are part of our social media and messenger removals, included on the Luxe and higher plans.

## How Stolen Content Spreads on X

X is a fast feed. A post can be reposted, quoted and linked from other sites soon after it goes up, and anyone can open a new account to post again.

Creators commonly report a few patterns on X: screenshots and short clips cut from paid content and posted as standalone posts, often with the watermark cropped out; accounts that post stolen content from many creators to send traffic to piracy sites or [Telegram channels](https://adultmodelprotection.com/services/telegram-content-removal); and fake accounts that use a creator's photos and name to pose as them.

## How X Handles a Copyright Notice

X has separate forms for a copyright complaint, a counter-notice, a retraction, trademark and impersonation. Its [copyright owner form](https://help.x.com/en/forms/ipi/dmca) requires an X account. When X acts on a notice, its [copyright policy](https://help.x.com/en/rules-and-policies/copyright-policy) says it clearly marks withheld posts and media so viewers can see that content was withheld.

X does not publish a response time for copyright notices. Our estimate for X is 24 to 72 hours for a complete notice; it is an estimate, not a guarantee, and some cases take longer. If a notice is incomplete, it can be corrected and sent again.

### What a Valid X DMCA Notice Must Include

X asks for the information the DMCA requires, which the [US Copyright Office](https://www.copyright.gov/512/) lists: identification of your work, the exact URL of each post, contact details, a good faith statement, a statement under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and the sender is authorized, and a signature. More detail is in [how a DMCA notice works](https://adultmodelprotection.com/services/dmca-takedowns-adult-content).

## Copyright, Impersonation or Intimate Media: Which Report Fits

X has separate routes for copyright, impersonation and intimate media, and each fits a different case. We use X's copyright form for copyright and its [impersonation report](https://help.x.com/en/safety-and-security/report-x-impersonation) for impersonation. X says the person impersonated or an authorized representative can file an impersonation report; when you are the person impersonated, X can ask you to verify your identity with a government ID.

![Comparison of X report routes. Reposted photos and clips go through X's copyright form, with the URL of every post, filed by AMP as your agent; an account pretending to be you goes through X's impersonation report, and intimate media shared without consent has its own route.](https://adultmodelprotection.com/images/services/twitter-x-dmca-report-routes.webp)_Copied content goes through X's copyright form; impersonation and intimate media have their own reports._

X's [non-consensual nudity policy](https://help.x.com/en/rules-and-policies/intimate-media) covers intimate media of a real, identifiable adult shared without their consent, and it allows consensual adult nudity marked as adult content. For paid content you made and sell yourself, the problem is usually that it was copied without permission, so the copyright form is the route that fits. Under the US TAKE IT DOWN Act, X also takes [reports of intimate images of an adult shared without consent](https://help.x.com/en/rules-and-policies/us-tida), without an X account, and says it removes violating reported content no later than 48 hours after the request. We file TAKE IT DOWN Act requests for you as your authorized representative when that route fits your case.

## Filing as Your Agent, and What Happens to Your Name

We file every X copyright notice on behalf of Adult Model Protection as your authorized agent, and a person on our takedown team checks each notice before it is sent. The rights holder named on the notice is your model (stage) name; X is one of the platforms that forward notices, and Lumen may publish them, so that name may be shown to the poster or published. Your legal name is never shared with X; with other recipients it is only shared with your consent, when they need it and keep it confidential.

The poster can file a counter-notice, and X may then restore the content after 10 to 14 business days unless it is told within that period that the copyright owner has filed a court action ([US Copyright Office](https://www.copyright.gov/512/)). Our takedown team tells you when a counter-notice arrives and explains your options; the decision is yours, and we do not give legal advice.

## Filing Yourself or With AMP

X accepts copyright notices directly from copyright owners, and you can file its form yourself, for free, from your own X account.

What AMP adds is the work around the form: finding the posts in the first place, collecting every post URL, filing under AMP's name instead of yours, checking each notice before it is sent, checking afterwards whether each post is gone, and handling the copies on other sites.

## How We Find Your Content on X

Our team runs reverse image searches with your content assets and manual searches by your creator names and handles. Your content assets are used only to search for copies and are never shared with third parties. We cannot see protected accounts, so tell us if you find your content there; you can submit links yourself from your dashboard.

Each post we find that shows your content gets its own notice. Content fingerprinting, which would also catch cropped or edited copies, is in development and not a current feature.

## After the Notice: Removal Checks and Reposts

After a notice is sent, we check whether each post is gone, through page checks and manual checks, and you follow every request and its status in your dashboard. When a platform does not act, our takedown team sends a follow-up.

Reposts are common on X. Our regular scans and manual searches look for your content again, and a repost that turns up gets a new notice. You get a notification when a scan finds a new copy.

## When X Leads to Other Sites

Creators commonly report posts on X that link to a copy hosted somewhere else. Removing the post does not remove that copy. Our scans cover search engines and more than 500 known leak and piracy sites, and also look for your content on [Instagram](https://adultmodelprotection.com/services/instagram-dmca), [TikTok](https://adultmodelprotection.com/services/tiktok-dmca), [Reddit](https://adultmodelprotection.com/services/reddit-dmca) and adult tube sites. Copies we find get their own notices, to the site, its host or, when a site ignores us, its registrar, hosting provider or payment processor.

[Search engine de-indexing](https://adultmodelprotection.com/services/search-engine-deindexing) asks Google and Bing to drop infringing pages from their results; it is unlimited on every paid plan.

A visible watermark can make stolen content less useful to reposters. AMP does not offer watermarking; it is in development and not a current feature.

## If the content shows you under 18, or you are in danger

- Explicit images or videos of you taken before you were 18: use NCMEC's free [Take It Down](https://takeitdown.ncmec.org/) service and report to the [CyberTipline](https://report.cybertip.org/). Adult Model Protection serves adults only.
- Explicit images of you as an adult shared without your consent: [StopNCII.org](https://stopncii.org/) is a free tool. If someone is threatening you, see [sextortion and blackmail help](https://adultmodelprotection.com/services/sextortion-blackmail-help).
- If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text [988](https://988lifeline.org/) in the US, or your local emergency number.

## How It Works

Our team runs the scans, and every notice is checked by our takedown team before it is sent. Here is what happens from the moment you register to the moment we check that your content is gone.

1

### Finding Your Content on X

Our team runs reverse image searches with your content assets and manual searches by your names and handles, and you can submit links you find yourself.

2

### Choosing the Right Report

Copied posts go to X's copyright form; fake accounts go to X's impersonation report.

3

### Notice Under AMP's Name

A complete notice with the exact post URLs, checked by a person, is filed under AMP's name as your agent.

4

### Removal Check and Follow-up

We check whether each post is gone and follow up when it is not. You see the status of every request in your dashboard.

5

### Reposts and Copies Elsewhere

Later scans and manual searches look for reposts and for copies on other sites, and each one found gets its own notice.

## Frequently Asked Questions

<details>

<summary>Which plan do I need for X takedowns?</summary>

X takedowns are part of our social media and messenger removals, included on the Luxe and higher plans, as is impersonation account removal. Search engine de-indexing of infringing pages is included on every paid plan. The Free plan includes a quarterly web scan but no takedowns.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What happens to reposts and quotes of a removed post?</summary>

X marks withheld posts and media so viewers can see that content was withheld. A quote or repost that shows a copy of your image or video is a post of its own: when we find it, it gets its own notice.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do you handle impersonation accounts as well as stolen content?</summary>

Yes. Impersonation goes through X's impersonation report, not a DMCA notice, and we file it as your authorized representative. When you are the person impersonated, X can ask you to verify your identity with a government ID.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What do I need to start X takedowns?</summary>

Create an account, upload your content assets and add your creator names and handles. Your content assets are used only to search for copies and are never shared with third parties. Any X posts you have already found can be submitted from your dashboard.
