Why YouTube Uploads Matter for Adult Creators
A stolen video on YouTube is free to watch for anyone who finds it. That can cost you subscribers who find the free copy instead of your official content, and stolen videos can show up in search results for a creator's name.
Some uploads come with doxxing, harassment or impersonation: a real name in the title, personal details in the description, or a channel that pretends to be you. YouTube has separate routes for those, described further down this page.
How Adult Content Ends Up on YouTube
YouTube does not allow pornography. Its nudity and sexual content policy says: "Explicit content meant to be sexually gratifying is not allowed on YouTube. Posting pornography may result in content removal or channel termination." Stolen adult content still turns up, often as cut or edited material.

How YouTube Handles a Copyright Removal Request
YouTube's copyright removal request page asks for contact details, a clear description of the copyrighted work and a direct link to each video, in the URL formats it lists (including Shorts). If information is missing, YouTube asks for it, and until it has everything the video may stay up. YouTube also asks the person filing to confirm that fair use was considered.
YouTube does not publish a response time. Our estimate is 24 to 48 hours for a complete request; it is an estimate, not a guarantee, and some cases take longer.
Besides YouTube's own fields, a takedown notice under US law needs the statements and signature the statute lists, and each notice we send includes them; see how a DMCA notice works. On YouTube, that means the exact URL of every video or Short, not only the channel.
Content ID, YouTube's own matching system, is only open to copyright owners who meet specific criteria: they "must own exclusive rights to a substantial body of original material that is frequently uploaded to YouTube." Most creators therefore rely on removal requests for each video.
Intimate Content Shared Without Consent
YouTube also has routes for non-consensual intimate imagery: a report under its Community Guidelines, a privacy complaint, and, for users in the United States, a request under the TAKE IT DOWN Act. These routes are free to use yourself. YouTube does not say which route fits commercial content. For copies of videos you made and sell, we use the copyright removal request, because it rests on your ownership of the work.
YouTube's privacy guidance also lets you ask for removal of realistic AI-altered or synthetic content that looks or sounds like you. As your authorized representative, we file privacy reports and impersonation reports on the Luxe and higher plans, and deepfake removal requests on the Glamour plan.
Whose Name Is on a YouTube Request
The rights holder named on a YouTube request is your model (stage) name, and YouTube may show it on the removed video and to the uploader. Adult Model Protection files and signs the request as your authorized agent, and a person on our takedown team checks each request before it is sent.
Your legal name is only shared with your consent, and only with a recipient that needs it and keeps it confidential. It is never shared with Google, which runs YouTube, or with others that publish or forward notices. You can withdraw that consent at any time from your account.
If the uploader files a counter-notification, YouTube may restore the content after 10 to 14 business days unless it is told within that period that the copyright owner has filed a court action (US Copyright Office). You can file YouTube's copyright removal request yourself, for free, through YouTube Studio. You can also submit links yourself from your dashboard. Your content assets are used only to search for copies and are never shared with third parties. Video fingerprinting, which would also catch cropped or edited copies, is in development and not a current feature.
When the Video Is Also in Search Results
A removed video may keep appearing in Google results for a while. Copies of your content on other sites also show up in search. Search engine de-indexing asks Google and Bing to drop infringing pages from their results; it is unlimited on every paid plan.
